Saturday members of the 10th Infantry Battalion of the Dominican Army of Dajabón, commanded by Colonel Roberto Sosa de la Cruz, have arrested during several operations, about 480 Haitians trying to enter illegally in Dominican territory.

According to the Dominican authorities, arrests took place at military checkpoints of Las Matas de Santa Cruz, Santa Maria, Cruce de Copey and Massacre of the province of Montecristi, as well as El Cañongo, Los Michés, Don Miguel, La Bomba, Santiago de la Cruz, Loma de Cabrera, of Dajabón where Haitian crossed by mountains. According to the military report, our compatriots were handed over to the immigration authorities at the border bridge to be returned to Haiti.

Also during control operations at the border, were seized that day, 530 bottles of Whisky Black Sto, Brazilian-made, more than 1,200 pounds of garlic and other goods and products from Haiti. In addition, many motorcycles that were used to transport undocumented immigrants, a Daihatsu truck and two pickup trucks used to transport smuggled goods were also seized.
