Haiti - Security : A student shot and wounded at Lycée Guy Malary

The Ministry of National Education and Professional Training (MENFP) is deeply dismayed, following a new act of aggression, which occurred Saturday, March 21 against a student of second class at the Lycée Guy Malary, shot and wounded in the leg, on the sidelines of a remedial course session. The student is out of danger after having received the care required by his condition confirmed the ministry.

MENFP strongly condemns this umpteenth act of violence in classroom by armed individuals being unduly in the school space and informs that the judicial authorities have been instructed on the attack, so that the culprits be found and punished.

Furthermore, the Ministry took the opportunity to ask the school directors and teachers to fully assume their supervisory role with students throughout the learning teaching process, including the monitoring of students, during evaluations. Recalling that it is forbidden to recruit non-teaching staff during exams provided in educational establishments.

MENFP called once again to the vigilant citizen action of all, in order to anticipate the violence that tends to be trivialized.
