Dominican Republic, Haiti envoys talk ties, US$2.0B in trade

They discussed political, cultural and economic, relations, including the US$2.0 billion in joint trade.
PĂ©rez said the Dominican Government takes long strides in the area of undocumented foreigners, as evidenced by the Plan to Regularize Foreigners, which has registered over 150,000 people thus far, and on the implementation of the Naturalization Law.


For his part, Altidor noted that Port-au-Prince is aware of the importance for Haiti citizens to have proper documents, which allows then to enroll in the Plan, for which Haiti’s government takes the necessary steps.


The diplomats agreed to work together to bolster Dominican Republic-Haiti relations.
Perez stressed that annual trade between the two countries exceeds US$2.0 billion and in his view, have a great potential to cooperate in tourism.
