Santo Domingo.- Incoming Haiti ambassador Daniel Supplice arrived in Santo Domingo Wednesday to replace Fritz N. Cineas, who was Port-au-Prince’s envoy for the past nine years.

The diplomat arrived in the Dominican capital at 10am in Higuero International Airport, where numerous Haitian citizens greeted him, said former Haiti consul Edwin Paraison, quoted by listin.com.do.

Supplice, an official and diplomat during Jean Claude Duvalier’s (Baby Doc) dictatorship (1971-1986), was tapped for the post by president Michel Martelly early March, 2013.

Daunting task

"Besides contributing to relaunch bilateral relations after the recent diplomatic crisis, (Supplice) he should initiate a thorough restructuring of Haiti’s representation, both at the embassy and consulates," Paraison said.
