Friday Rothchild François Jr., the Minister of Communications officially announced the resignation of Jean François Thomas.

Thursday in a letter to the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, the Minister resigned Thomas explains that he took this decision in order to "save unjustified suffering to the agricultural sector, to the Government and whole country," recalling in his letter that "[...] under the pretext of a lack of skills in the agricultural sector attributed to me, the students of the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine, decided since my installation to the function of Minister of Agriculture, to block the building, carrying out acts of immense violence to prevent my entry, not including false declarations, constants in my place [...]"

Commenting on his decision on Friday, Jean François Thomas denounced the maneuvers of a sector that has "recovered the student movement", with objectives "that do not go in the direction of the agricultural sector interests."

Renan Louis, one of the leaders of the student movement of the FAMV, welcomed this decision, however, he believes that the claims are not fully satisfied because "students are still waiting for the resignation of the two Secretaries State, Fednel Monchery and Pierre André Gedon [...] We can not abandon our movement before there is a presidential decree to appoint two secretaries of state and a minister who knows the sector," announcing a new phase of the movement of claims from next Monday if the President Martelly does not cancel the order appointing the two secretaries of state.

For its part, Fednel Monchéry, the Secretary of State for Agrarian Reform, said he will not resign.

Saturday, according to a decree signed by President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Evans Paul, the Citizen Fresner Dorcin, Secretary of State for Plant Production was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development to replace Mr Thomas.
