Sunday the Minister Fred Mitchell of the Bahamas Immigration said in a statement that the archipelago off the coast of Florida "dealing with a deluge of illegal migrants who have breached our borders over the past week."

He indicated that last Wednesday, the Royal Bahamas Defense Force intercepted a boat overloaded with 168 Haitian migrants aboard (131 adults and 37 children) in search of a better life. The group consisted of 131 adults and 37 children. Mitchell affirms that the authorities are working to expedite their immediate return to Haiti," adding that 10 other Haitian immigrants were also arrested on Inagua.
