Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s five consulates in Haiti will reopen fully Tuesday, two weeks after the attacks by mobs of Haitians in that country, said Commercial attaché in that country Hector Pastor Vasquez.

The Dominican Foreign Ministry also announced the return of Dominican ambassador in Haiti Ruben Silie to Port-au-Prince Monday afternoon, one week after he was recalled amid tension between the countries that share Hispaniola.

In a statement issued Sunday, Vásquez said Foreign minister Andrés Navarro ordered the reopening of the consulates in Port-au-Prince, Cap Haitien, Belladere, Ouanaminthe and Anse Pitres, with a normal schedule.

Tension
The Dominican government temporarily shuttered its consulates on March 4, on attacks unleashed by Haitians, including the tearing down and torching of Dominican flag at the consulate in Port-au-Prince.

The violent protests came just days after a Haitian man was found hanging in a park in Santiago, a murder still under investigation by Dominican authorities.
